Our story

Five hands. One bench. A very slow calendar.

Cuire began in a garage in 2014 with a single sheet of vegetable-tanned leather and a borrowed awl. Twelve years later, we’re still small on purpose.

The material

Leather that ages with you.

We source hides from three tanneries in Tuscany, Ubrique, and Chicago — each of them family-run, each vegetable-tanning with the patience the process deserves. Full-grain only. No corrections. No shortcuts.

Our leather isn’t uniform. Every hide has a memory: the scar on its flank, the shift in its grain. We keep those marks. They are why leather is worth wearing.

The mission

Make less, better.

We make about 40 pieces a week. We could make more. We choose not to. Every wallet, every belt, every jacket passes through the same five pairs of hands from cut to final burnish.

If it comes apart, we fix it. If a customer breaks a stitch in 2039, we’ll re-stitch it in 2039. That’s the deal.

Craft

Saddle-stitched, edge-burnished, hand-finished.

Every seam is saddle-stitched — two needles, one thread, an old technique that outlives its maker. Every edge is beveled, dampened, and burnished with beeswax until it shines like a river stone.

A wallet takes four hours. A jacket takes three days. We refuse to be quicker.
